Homemade Garam Masala


Garam Masala is a blend of ground spices used throughout India. 

Preparation Time: 5 min

Cooking Time : 10 min

Makes : 1 1/2 cups

 

 

Ingredients:

1. Jeera / Cumin Seeds – 1 1 /2 cup

2. Coriander seeds / dhania seeds – 1/2 cup

3. Whole peppercorns – 1/3 cup

4. Badi Elaichi / Black caradamom – 1/2 cup

5. Elaichi / Cardamom – 3/4 cup

6. Cinnamon sticks / Dalchin – 8

7. Cloves / Lavang – 1/3 cup

8. Bayleaves – 25

9. Nutmeg – 2

10. Mace (outer covering to nutmeg nut) – 1 cup

11. Dried Ginger Powder – 30 g

Method:

Combine all the ingredients and dry roast lightly on a tava .  Cool slightly and blend in a mixer to a fine powder. Cool Completely and store in an air tight container so that it stays fresh for unto 2 months.
