Mango Lassi


Finally…the king of fruits is here in Bhavya’s Cuisine !  Mango Lassi – a desi drink , is popular in most of the Indian restaurants. Made out of yogurt and mango…this is absolutely refreshing and heavenly !

Preparation time: 2 min.

Serves – 4

Ingredients :

1. Mango , chopped- 1  1/2 cups

2. Curd / dahi (made from full fat milk) – 1  1/2 cups

3. Milk – 1/2 cup

4. Powdered sugar – 6 tsp ( I prefer sugar substitute)

5. Ice cubes –  4 to 5

Method:
Combine all the ingredients, except the ice-cubes, and blend in a mixer for 2-3 minutes. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Chikku Milkshake


Chikku / Sapota is one of my favorite fruits … n Chikku Milkshake is one of the best options for summer coolers. Its a healthy treat for the summer . Sapota is rich in dietary fibre,Vitamin A n Vitamin C . Ripe sapota are a good source of minerals like potassium, copper, iron and vitamins like folate, niacin and pantothenic acid.  Amma always used to prepare chilled milkshakes for me n my brother in summers before playtime. Must say…its such a relief in the heated summers.

Preparation Time: 10 min

Serves -:  3

Ingredients:

1.Ripe Chikku / Ripe Sapota (washed,peeled and deseeded) – 2 cups

2. Cold Milk ( I usually prefer low fat) – 500 ml

3. Sugar / Honey – as per your taste.

4. Vanilla icecream – 1 scoop  (optional )

5. Ice cubes

Method:

Blend the milk and chikku for  about 40 sec. Add sugar ,vanilla icecream and blend again. Add ice cubes and serve chilled.

Masala Chai


Brewing tea with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs…Indian Spiced Milk / Masala Chai. Chai for everyone is a part of daily routine in India.

Serves : 1

Ingredients:

1. Tea powder – 1 full tsp

2.Masala Mixture: (Use the mixture immediately after crushing)

1 pod cardomon

2 pea size fresh ginger (mulched)

1-2 big size whole black pepper

1/8 to 1/6 cinnamon stick ( I don’t prefer putting cinnamon, but there are ppl who love the flavor of cinnamon in tea)

3. Sugar to taste4. Milk – 1/2 cup (Do not use low fat milk if you want the right taste)

4.Water – 3/4 cup

Method:

In a deep dish container add water,milk,tea and the crushed spices.

Allow them to boil well for about 15 min,keep stirring continuously.

Add sugar to your taste. Drain on stainer and serve hot.

Strawberry Shake


Ingredients:

1.1 cup fresh Strawberries
2.4 cup Milk
3.To taste Sugar
4.Ice -cubes

Method:

Wash strawberries properly and remove the stems. Blend strawberries and little milk together in a blender until crushed properly into a smooth paste.
Add the remaining milk, sugar and crushed ice.
Blend again for another 30 seconds or so.
Served chilled in glasses.
Note :
If strawberries are not available, strawberry essence can be used.

Cold Coffee


Ingredients:
1.4 cup Cold Milk
2.1 cup boiling Water
3.6 tsp instant Coffee Powder
4.4 tblsp Cream
5.3 tblsp Sugar
6.Crushed Ice

Method:

Dissolve instant coffee powder and sugar in boiling water and allow to cool.
Blend the the coffee mixture and milk in a blender for few seconds. Add cream and crushed ice.
Blend for another few seconds till it becomes frothy.
Serve chilled.
