1.Instead of salt, use  “Saindava Lavana”  which is available in any ayurvedic shop. This is nothing but the salt which occurs naturally,this is NOT the salt that we usually use in the kitchen which is chemical salt and is harmful.

The origin of rock salt comes from the sea bed that evaporated million years ago.
The Indus Valley is where the ancient Indian culture n civilization developed and this salt range of  Indus Valley is where our Indians mined salt thousands of years ago.The salt range lies between Indus river and Himalayan range in the north of what is Pakistan today. Our ancient Indians called the salt mined there as Saindava Lavana.
This salt was used with great success by Ayurveda. By contrast, Indus Salt is uncontaminated and pure.
Rock salt is possibly the purest form of salt, which is free from environmental pollutants, chemical components and does not require a refining process. It contains pure minerals such as Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Potassium, Magnesium, Copper and all the other 84 minerals.

    It helps in exfoliating dead skin cells, cleansing skin pores and protecting the natural skim layer to produce healthy and energized skin type. It also helps in strengthening skin tissue to rejuvenate the skin to make it look younger and firm.

3. Brown Rice  is more preferable than any other rice as it is considered to be highly nutritious and healthy. Its called Mudi Biyyam / Dampudu Biyyam in telugu.  If you are worried about your growing weight, feeling fatigue more often, want to stay away from diabetes, want to keep your cholesterol level down then brown rice is the right kind of food for you.

Process of cooking Brown Rice :
  •  Cooking brown rice is a little tricky and time taking process. Many people have trouble cooking brown rice in the beginning. Once you cook regularly you get used to it. You must bear this in order get the full nutrients it has. The first step is to clean and rinse the rice properly and soak in lukewarm water for at least half an hour or more. Since brown rice is a whole large grain with upper bran layer intact; it needs to be soaked in lukewarm water for better result.
  • Here you must learn to add right amount of water to cook brown rice. For cooking brown rice take double the quantity of water to rice. For example: If you are cooking 2 cups of rice add 4 cups of water. Any thing less makes the rice hard to eat and anything more makes it messy.
  • Now put on the stove and cook the rice on high flame for 5 to 10 minutes and then reduce the flame letting the rice cook in a simmer for another 20 minutes. It usually takes long time to cook when compared to white rice. Do not bother about the gas expenditure while cooking. Think about the benefits of eating brown rice. Because regular use of brown rice keeps you away from doctors and medicines.
  • When the rice is cooked take off the stove and keep the lid closed for a while for better results.
  • Your rice is now ready to serve. Serve it hot with any curry. Regular use of brown rice keeps you fit and healthy. Make a practice of eating brown rice regularly at your home and make your friends and relatives follow the same.
4.  Way to drink water :
  • Drink lukewarm water approximately 2-3 glass immediately after getting up in the morning.This helps the night-long gathered saliva in your mouth to reach your stomach which is very good for digestion and lukewarm water consumption in morning also cleans up the digestive track.
  • Never drink cold water or any cold thing as stomach needs heat for digestion of food and consuming cool things calms down that heat which makes it difficult for the digestion system to digest the food.
  • Drink water sip by sip instead of gulping it quickly just like the animals do for maintaining a good and healthy digestive system.
  • Fill a copper jug full of water and allow it to stand all night. Drinking this water in the morning on empty stomach gives great health benefits.

Cooking


1. If dosa sticks to the tawa, rub an onion cut into half dipped in oil on the hot tawa and sprinkle some water over it. Now try making the next dosa.

2. To get good crisp puris, add a little semolina into the dough.

3. Adding pinch of salt while frying onions makes it quicker to fry the onions.
